Welcome to Day 5. I’m super excited to share with you today’s topic.

Values are the core of how Brand From Within develops brands and leaders. It’s also my story. When I realized my never ending search for fulfillment was really rooted in the value conflicts in my life, it felt like I was finally able to breathe and make my dream happen.
First though, I want to talk about the quality of perseverance.

Did you know that the #1 key of successful people is a quality of perseverance?

So why do some people have it and others not?

The main quality of successful and happy people is a quality of perseverance, not IQ or talent. (from Brian Johnson of Entheos Academy and Heidi Grant Halverson of Columbia University Professor)

And perseverance is different from motivation or willpower. It has a greater sense of ease to it, it’s not about force.

It has a quality of enjoying what you are doing – of being in the flow.

That flow comes from aligning yourself to a way of being that is the best version of yourself. It comes from being committed to something bigger than yourself – your mission.

Life throws us a lot of curve balls, emotions, thoughts, and insecurities as we talked about in yesterday’s letter.

We can’t always control our limiting, crazy thoughts but we can control our behavior.

That’s where being clear about your values can be a guide to making decisions and to how you show up day in and day out. I love this quote by Micheal Beckwith that says:

“What does feeling like it, have to do with anything?”
Few people have this quality. But when you are committed to your values, you’ve got perseverance. And along the way you create visibility and massive influence for yourself. Being committed to your values can be a guide for your decisions and give you the perseverance you need to stay committed.

Check out the video tuturial I did on living your values to see what I mean by the right kind of visibility and influence. It’s the kind of influence that creates movements and brands that people are excited to support.

For a moment, let’s forget about our New Year’s goals and think about how you want to show up that makes you proud? These are the values that are aligned with your soul.

What different decisions would you make?

How would you show up differently in your relationships?
Communicating your values are also the key to successful marketing. When people see your values in action and they share those, you create a deep bond with your clients, co-workers, friends, and family.
In this classic video, Steve Jobs considered one of the greatest marketings talks about how marketing is values. It’s about caring and what you stand for. It’s not just important for businesses but for people that want to make an impact by living their values. Here’s to the misfits….
